Alright ladies, if you are a big dreamer like I am, we get lost in the envisioning parts of our planning processes. Next thing ya know, we’ve wasted 3 hrs of our life putting together pinterest boards and mood boards of our ideal offices and fireplace mantel setups. Being completely derailed from my main objective is a specialty of mine. So after years of failed plans, and losing track of exactly how much time I could have spent being productive, I’m here to fill you in on the secret sauce of goal setting and making your plans happen.
Space Pants – #1 Dream Big
Let’s put on our space pants for a second because this is where we get to stick our head in the clouds and dream big. No glass ceilings and no limitations. What do you REALLY want to do? What is the big picture here? This is where all amazing things have started. Mine for example, is that I want to be part of as many lives as possible in the untaming process. I love witnessing these transformations and creating these bonds. My boudie babes typically become lifelong friends and I live for that.
Coming back to Earth – #2 Get Specific
Next we want to get more logical and a little less vague. So let’s pin point a more definitive goal. In another example, my more definitive goal is to open my own luxury boutique style boudoir studio. Eventually this will be a place where I can also conduct workshops and trainings on self love & the art of inner beauty embellishment, which LimeLight by Alcone becomes my vehicle for. Does this make sense? Choose a vehicle for your objective….a definitive approach to your goal that will make it real.
Checking in with your Soul – #3 your WHY
This part is soooo important. This is also an amazing place to start when you are in the process of “untaming yourself”. When we are children, we start learning based on our observations and things expected of us at the time. For example, in older days there was a such thing as Charm School. This is where ladies were sent before they entered into their time of dating. Essentially, Charm School was a place girls were sent to prepare them for being a wife. Silly things they were taught were for example….to laugh at boys jokes so they feel funny, or macho, or whatever the hell they needed to feel good about themselves.
Untaming yourself is where after you laugh at that joke the boy made, you ask yourself “Did I actually find his joke funny”, “Did I laugh for him, or did I laugh for me”, and listening to those things. Untaming yourself isn’t necessarily about hardcore rebelling for no reason, or being an ass. It’s about respecting yourself, doing what you want to do, because it is genuinely what you want and who you are. It’s about finding your authentic place in the universe and asking for it’s guidance in trusting your true self.
This plays into your goals, because if your goal isn’t ACTUALLY yours….you will grow to resent your work and the journey of ups and downs it will bring. It is only when these dreams and goals are TRULY yours, that the difficulties and obstacles are all worth it.
Practical Magic y’all – #4 Dissect & Plan
This is the part where we totally remove our heads from the clouds and get real practical. What does your dreams and goals mean? How much time is this really going to take? How much money is this going to take? How much time per day do you need to invest? When do you wish to achieve this goal? In my experience, it has been easier for me to break it down backwards. I will first determine my goal and time frame. (i.e. I want to open my boudoir studio by my 30th birthday) Then I use the amount of years to break down what I would like to achieve in each of those remaining years. Then I will look at THOSE goals, and break down what I would need to do each month to acheive my yearly goals. Then I dissect each month. What will I need to make sure happens each day, to make sure this particular goal is met for that particular month? Get as specific as possible. Smaller tasks are so much easier to digest in tinier portions. By creating too many and too big of goals in smaller time frames will paralyze your motivation to accomplish any of them.
Celebrate! – #5 Expect obstacles
This part is a place I struggle with, I’ll admit it. Usually I just keep going and keep going, which ultimately results in burnout. Remember to set the ways you will celebrate each win. The other day I spoke about affirmations and the way everything you tell yourself is re-programming your brain constantly. If you missed it, check it out here. If you never celebrate your wins, essentially you’re training your brain not to release those endorphins which are normally released when something good. This is also going to immensely benefit the times when things get tough and you have to face obstacles…..because I am going to tell you….there WILL be obstacles. You want to make sure you have the good times prominent in your mind to get you through those times with smooth sailing.
I would love to hear your thoughts and ways that have helped you conquer your goals, below in the comments. Let’s start getting this mindset in check and lots of Love, Hugs, and good vibes for your 2018 success!
