Get smaller pores

Ok, you’re going to hate me….but gimme a sec to explain…

Did your mom ever tell you, too, that steaming your face will open up your pores and then afterward to splash your face with cold water to shrink them back down to size??

Mine did. I believed her too. Heck, she probably believed herself, so she wasn’t technically lying. Steaming can still be healthy for your skin though as it can help loosen all the extra build up to prepare removal of all that gunk.

Truth is…. you can’t actually MAKE your pores smaller. You are born the way you are born. Pores are completely genetic.

I come bearing good news too though!!!! We can make our pores APPEAR smaller!

Keep Pores Clear

A way to make your pores appear smaller is to keep them cleaned out. Sweat, heavy makeup products, & other debris can settle in and stretch out your pores, making them appear larger. Try to stick with all noncomedogenic skincare and makeup. I actually represent a brand that has mineral oil & petrolatum free makeup, here, two very heavy ingredients known to severely irritate pores. Irritated pores are also going to appear larger.

As I mentioned above, you want to look for skincare products which are noncomedogenic. Noncomedogenic is just a fancy word for “doesn’t clog your pores“. Sticking with a natural line will also ensure you are being gentle on your skin. If you have dry skin like I do… it’s easy to cause inflammation or redness if I don’t treat it with some extra TLC.

If you are on the hunt for an effective skincare line or want to change up what you are using, here are my suggestions.

CLEANSERS

For Oily skin:
If you have oily skin (NOT necessarily acne prone), I highly recommend our Dream Clean. The Aloe Vera in this cleanser creates a shield to keep moisture in and pollutants out, while Extract of White Tea adds antioxidant benefits and Spirulina Platensis Algae firms skin. Aloe Vera is an amazing skin care ingredient for every skin type.

For Dry Skin:
If you have dry skin, our Quench Cleanse is going to make you fall in love. This is the cleanser I use everyday in the morning and at nightime. It’s super gentle but also effective. I have very acne prone skin and this cleanser battles my blemishes without irritating it.

MOISTURIZERS

Now, with moisturizers, it can be a little tricky to find THE REGIMEN for your particular skin. Although charts and studies will suggest certain products, sometimes it takes a little work and monitoring to find the right moisturizer since this is a product that isn’t washed off afterward. Here are my suggestions but remember that these products are highly effective and to use your best judgment based on your skin behaviors.

For Oily skin:
For oily skin, Cool Balm will be a great moisturizer to try. This light moisturizer, made up of soothing Aloe, Cucumber, and a combination of restorative plant extracts, hydrates and calms your skin. The lightweight formula is gentle enough for sensitive skin and helps protect oily or acne-prone skin from breakouts and inflammation.

For Dry Skin:
We have an incredible moisturizer for dry skin that’s packed with antioxidants. It’s our Skin Therapy. This rich moisturizer drenches your skin with hydrating ingredients, such as Safflower Oil, Evening Primrose, Pomegranate Sterols, and naturally occurring sugars, while Oat Protein calms and soothes. This rich moisturizer will immediately and visibly restore dry, aged, and inflamed skin.

My Personal Regmimen:
I, personally, have to use a combo of the two. I use the Cool Balm around the outer parts of my face where my acne tends to get cystic like. The center of my face and around my eyes is mostly dry and sensitive so in THIS area, I stick with the Skin Therapy. It’s taken quite a while for me too find the perfect balance but my skin feels so good that it’s has been worth the journey.

Exfoliate

Exfoliation keeps your skin free of dead skin cells which tend to also clog your pores, making them appear larger. Try picking up a mask or spin brush to ensure you’re not missing this step. Dermatologists typically suggest exfoliating about 3 times a week or every other day.

If you have oily skin, I recommend our Masque of Zen. It’s key ingredients are Montana Clay, Tea Tree Oil, White Carrot Oil, and Cinnamon Bark. These act simultaneously against all the major causes of skin imbalance and will keep those impurities from clogging up your pores.

For Dry or Normal skin, you will love our Skin Polish. This is the mask I personally use on a regular basis. Key ingredient natural Jojoba Beads rolls away impurities, as well as dead and dehydrated skin, so oils from Olives, Lemon, and Cypress can restore, protect, & clear your pores of any trapped debris. Natural Cleansers
