“He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche
When I was gifted my first DSLR after graduation in 2007, I mainly shot abandoned farm houses, industrial locations, downtown alleys.
In 2008, I got really lucky and made some of the best gal pals, who were totally okay with being at the mercy of my weird creativity. And there…..is where my passion blossomed.

Venturing into family photography around 2012 for the intention of creating a business out of my passion, something always felt like it was missing. Don’t get me wrong, I love capturing those treasured moments for friends and their new family additions, etc…..but there is something about working with women and creating a door for them to see themselves in a different light……that I am so naturally drawn to. I can’t even begin to describe how natural I feel when I am in a shoot these days. I could be totally stressed out before the session begins and once we start shooting…my focus becomes more clear than I feel in day to day reality.
Today, I didn’t want to worry about getting better. It is wayyyyy too often I find myself comparing my art and abilities to others I find more advanced, and to be perfectly honest…it tears me down big time. Today, I wanted to celebrate the fact that I finally found my true passion and individual purpose in this lifetime, and also how far I have come.
I wanted to celebrate the tears, doubts, heartaches, and struggles I have went through to build myself into the person I am today.
I will never stop bettering myself in the art of photography and women’s portraiture, but I think it is also important to celebrate where I am right now.
Lady friends, I wish I had known at the time just how much you would impact my life’s purpose. I love you gals.
